The theatre critic, Suzana Marjanić, said this edition of the festival to be the “Melting point of the body and the space” (Zarez, No. 36-37). Anyway, the 6th PUF gathered 11 plays and performances round the idea of the “site specific theatre”. The focus of the festival slipped again from the body to the space, which it has been exploring during its first three editions.

“. let’s call for peace and protection for the army barracks “Karlo Rojc”: let’s make it forget its original purpose, let’s transform it from a place of war-preparation and suffering, to a place of well-being and a shelter for young people.” (Appeal for the action “Ring Around Rojc”)

The bliss of the primordial theatricality of the spontaneous sons of the arts has on the 9th PUF clashed with the impotence of the authority that is unable to find out why the ancient Athena spent much more money on theatre than on the fleet. The 9th PUF was inaugurated with the protestation letter “Not to be or not not to be” written by the four founders of the festival. With this protestation letter they reacted to the bureaucratic distribution of money in culture, criticised the payment of non-artistic festivals, attacked the supporting of the petty-bourgeois manners towards culture and reacted to the refusal of giving the official status of dramatic artist to the members of the groups who founded PUF. The direct motivation for this protest was the fact that after 27 years of work the City Council of Sisak has refused to give to Daska the financial support for the year 2003. This protest coloured the whole atmosphere of the festival and a newspaper-polemic was born.
